(Pico) : Granted, I'm not wise to the ways of the programming elite, but can someone : fill me in on why a feature that adds so much to the longevity and : grass-roots interest of a game title has been ignored now on the last 2 : bungie games (Oni and now Halo) ??? "Ignored" is the wrong word. "Unfinished" might be more accurate. The question is not whether films are possible, but whether they could have happened in a reasonable amount of time. The answer to that question turned out to be "No." In theory, we could hold off on shipping Halo until we'd added every feature we'd like to include - but by the time we finished, it's doubtful anyone would care anymore. I'm not trying to be cavalier about this. No one was happy about losing films. Our reasons had nothing to do with a cost/benefit analysis, obviously. It was more of a time/workload/importance analysis: we had X number of days left and Y days' worth of things to add/complete/fix - and Y was greater than X, so Y had to get pared down to the essentials. It has happened with every game we've ever shipped. The shelf-life of our games is important to us, but so is getting them on the shelves in the first place. -Matt
